INTRODUCING OUR RANGE OF MATERIALS
(Click on Headings for a more detailed description of the material)
NI HARD IRONS TYPES 1, 2 AND 4
(in accordance with AS2027)
Grades Ni Cr 1-550 (Ni Hard1) Ni Cr 2-500 (Ni Hard 2) Ni Cr 4-630 (Ni Hard 4)
Also available: Grades Ni Cr 4-500 Ni Cr 4-600
Ni Hard Types 1 and 2 are martensitic white irons suited to applications where good abrasion resistance at low impact levels are required. Ni Hard Type 4 is a martensitic white iron that is suited to applications where good abrasion resistance at moderate impact levels are required.
HIGH CHROMIUM IRONS
(in accordance with AS2027)

These are martensitic white irons that (in the hardened state) are suited to applications where both corrosion and abrasion resistance is required. They are also used in high temperature oxidising applications.
CHROMIUM-MOLYBDENUM IRON
(in accordance with AS2027 Grade Cr Mo 15 3)

This alloy is a martensitic white iron which has excellent abrasion resistance and toughness.
CHROMIUM-MOLYBDENUM-COPPER IRONS
(in accordance with AS2027 Grades Cr Mo 15 3 and Cr Mo Cu 20 2 1)

These alloys are similar to the chromium-molybdenum iron. The good hardenability obtained in these alloys allows the casting of heavy section castings.
GREY CAST IRONS
(in accordance with AS1830 all grades)

These irons have high thermal conductivity, low modulus of elasticity and the ability to withstand thermal shock. They also have good machinability and vibration damping properties.
DUCTILE (S.G.) IRONS
(in accordance with AS1831 all grades)

These irons have high strength, toughness and ductility and good machinability. In many applications this material can be a substitute for steel castings and forgings.
AUSTENITIC FLAKE GRAPHITE IRONS (NI RESIST) AND AUSTENITIC SPHEROIDAL GRAPHITE IRONS (SG NI RESIST)
(in accordance with AS1833 all grades)

This family of cast irons is used mainly for its excellent resistance to corrosion in applications involving chemical corrosion and high temperature oxidation. All grades are readily machinable and higher alloyed irons have a low coefficient of thermal expansion.
STEELS

Allen Foundry offers a select range of steels, which include a Nickel-Chromium-Molybdenum steel that is a good intermediary material between white cast iron and low carbon steel. It offers a good level of toughness coupled with good abrasion resistance, which is due to its high initial hardness. Other Steels offered are low to medium plain carbon steels that are covered by the Australian Standard AS2074.
